The Event


Mathmania is an online mathematical event which gives you a great opportunity to try your hands on some exciting mathematics ranging from probability, geometry, primes to an even broader spectrum of aptitude, reasoning, deductions, number crunching and much more.
Mathematics, here is only a means and not an end. A sound knowledge of coding is also required. So put on your thinking caps and gear up, it's time to unleash the mathematician in you.

Contest specific Rules


  1. The contest will be of 3 hours duration with 10 problems of varying difficulty.
  2. Each problem will have 2 cases, a small case and a large case. Most of the time you will need to code in order to simulate the results. Some results can be worked out on paper as well.
  3. You can make any number of submissions for the problem. Only the best will count.
  4. It is an individual event.
  5. There is no need to submit the code for each problem. Only the answer needs to be submitted in the required format, and it will be matched against the correct answer.
  6. Some questions may have more than one small case.
  7. There will be a separate marking scheme for each of the small cases as well as the large case and the scheme will vary with each problem as well.
  8. The contest is open to students and professionals alike. Both shall be eligible for prizes.
  9. In order to be eligible for prizes, you need to register yourself at our website and make sure you provide your Hackerrank handle in the update profile section.
  10. Decision of the judges shall be final and binding.

About Codefest

Codefest is the annual coding festival of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, which is held online and is open to participation by all!

There is absolutely no registration fees and total prizes are worth ₹4,50,000/-

Rules

  • Please refrain from discussing strategy during the contest.
  • All submissions are run through a plagiarism detector. Any case of code plagiarism will disqualify both users from the contest.

  • HackerRank admin decisions are final.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • Your score for a problem depends on the number of test cases your submission successfully passes.
  • A participant's total score is the sum of the scores earned for each problem attempted. If you submitted more than one solution for a problem, only your highest score achieved will be used in this calculation.
  • Participants are ranked by score, with the cumulative time taken (between the contest's start time and the time of your correct submission) used to break ties.
