Welcome to the 4th annual Pacific Lutheran University alumni programming competition. This event pairs students with alumni as they compete to complete a series of programming problems.

FAQs

Q: I live far away, can I still participate? A: Yes! You can join via zoom. We will put groups into breakout rooms and you can do everything via google meet: https://meet.google.com/pxb-jfnn-kwa

Q: Is lunch provided? A: Yes, we will have pizza and snacks

Q: Does it cost any money? A: No, its free!

Q: I don't program anymore, does that matter? A: No! Students can do the programming and you can help with the problem solving!

Q: Do I need to bring anything? A: Nope! If you prefer to use your own laptop, you could bring it.

Prizes

The ultimate prize in our programming contest is the exhilaration of solving complex code problems and outwitting your opponents, as you bask in the glory of your programming skills and victory. Plus there is a trophy

Rules

  • The creator of this contest is solely responsible for setting and communicating the eligibility requirements associated with prizes awarded to participants, as well as for procurement and distribution of all prizes. The contest creator holds HackerRank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, awards, settlements, orders, or fines.
  • Code directly from our platform, which supports over 30 languages. Learn more here.

  • The internet can only be used for syntax and code documentation questions.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • A participant’s score depends on the number of test cases a participant’s code submission successfully passes.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved. In a game challenge, the participant's score will reflect the last code submission.
  • Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken to submit the last solution resulting in a higher score
