Any compute problem is not a real-world problem, but rather a programmer's abstracted mapping of a real-world problem into requirements and, ultimately, a set of algorithms.
The proper complaint here (and the one I think @zac_c_petit intended) is that such abstraction and mapping from a realistic problem to these code requirements is very poorly done. As that mapping is purely speculative it absolutely does not have to be that bad.
