I disagree. Start with the identity:
(ab)%m = ((a%m)*(b%m))%m
Substitute n for a and n for b and you get:
(nn)%m = ((n%m)*(n%m))%m
This is exactly what we need, since we're trying to calculate (nn)%m, without exceeding the word length.
