About

Abhikalan 'अभिकलन' (Sanskrit for Computation/Coding) is a series of Online Programming Contests organized by eGurukul Bhaarat team as a part of the ongoing Employability Skills Enhancement training being conducted for the students of NIT Raipur. We've decided to make the contest public so that students across the globe may benefit from it.

Abhikalan contest problems are set by Industry Experts, Technical Trainers and Ex-HR Professionals who have led Recruitment teams of various reputed R&D Organizations in IITs, NITs, IIITs, BITs and other premiere Institutes in India and have prepared Coding Questions for recruitment processes of their respective Organizations.

Through Abhikalan, we aim to provide a platform for young programmers to hone their technical proficiency w.r.t. Coding/Programming Contests and Interview Questions of Core Software and R&D Wings of MNCs. Here is a list of our previous contests:

Students from 14 Foreign Institutes, 10 IITs, 19 NITs, 5 IIITs and 40+ other institutes participated in our last contest.

NOTE: Top performers of the Abhikalan Contest Series will get a chance to work on projects/internships with members of eGurukul Bhaarat; which is a Not-For-Profit initiative for providing technical, personality development & life skills training for both students and faculty. We also conduct Mock Recruitments to prepare the students for Placements.

In the past, we have trained students of 40+ Institutes - NIT Raipur, NIT Agartala, NIT Trichy, MNNIT Allahabad, XIM Bhubaneshwar, YMCA UST Faridabad, BIT Mesra, BIET Jhansi, KIIT Bhubaneshwar and Chitakara University to name a few. If you would like to invite us to train students/faculty at your institute, drop a message at our official Facebook Page.

Rules

  • The creator of this contest is solely responsible for setting and communicating the eligibility requirements associated with prizes awarded to participants, as well as for procurement and distribution of all prizes. The contest creator holds HackerRank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, awards, settlements, orders, or fines.
  • Code directly from our platform, which supports over 30 languages. Learn more here.
  1. Try to solve problems on your own, if you fail, discuss potential algorithms with your friends, if you fail again, use Google and all the internet resources. The aim of the contest is for you to learn, not to compete.
  2. Discuss and look for algorithms, do not copy paste codes from websites or other participants. It defeats the purpose of the contest and will lead to disqualification. Although because of strict constraints and exceptional test cases, codes from websites may not be of much help anyway.
  3. Try to write optimized code. Just solving the problems using Brute Force methods should be avoided.
  4. Whenever possible and where-ever applicable, solve the problems by following the NOTE section of the problem. Only participants who solve the problems by following the NOTE Section will be eligible for prizes.
  5. Top Scores are not to be confused with Top Performance. Scores may be obtained by using Brute Force Methods or non-efficient codes. We are looking for top Performers and not top scorers.
  6. The list of Top Performers of the contests will be declared within 4 days from the end of the contest.
  7. Most important of all, enjoy programming and enjoy Abhikalan.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • A participant’s score depends on the number of test cases a participant’s code submission successfully passes.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved. In a game challenge, the participant's score will reflect the last code submission.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved.
  • Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken for submitting the last correct code submission.
