An 8 week position as a web developer and content manager at Humane Canada. In this time I was in charge of making fixes and improving the Humane Canada website. In addition to this I also shot and edited promotional content for Humane Canada
Software Developer
Government of Canada•  May 2018 - December 2018
An 8 month Co-Op with the Government of Canada where I got to take part in a professional, technology based work environment. I was exposed to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, Node.js, Grunt, Git and Github. I got exposed to all of this because I got to work on the governments own web framework (the Web Experience Toolkit) and was tasked with creating a prototype to move it into a new version. This is a framework that helps create Canada.ca web pages that are viewed by hundreds of millions of Canadians every year. In addition to this I got to assist the search team on fixing bugs related to search as well as helping with bringing advanced search to Canada's official news site. In doing this I got to learn about Elastic Search, web crawling and indexing. I also helped fix bugs on various different web pages as well as create a presentation on the Web Experience Toolkit's build file. I created a presentation that demonstrated a way to reduce build time as well as cutting the memory required by 50%. At the end of my work term I was awarded a certificate for the valued contributions I made to the framework.
