The contest is provided by 3Shape Ukraine company and consists of the single challenge: find minimum number of triangles enclosing all points in 2D point cloud.

Prizes

The winner of the contest will get a prize: headset Sennheiser HD 280 PRO NEW. And: the top 30 participants including the first place will be invited to 3Shape IT club event which will take place on November 23th in 3Shape Kiev office.

Rules

The creator of this contest is solely responsible for setting and communicating the eligibility requirements associated with prizes awarded to participants, as well as for procurement and distribution of all prizes. The contest creator holds HackerRank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, awards, settlements, orders, or fines.

Scoring

The single challenge in the contest consists of 20 test cases and the final score is a sum of scores across all tests
For each test case participant can get a score calculated as (n - k)+1 where n is the number of points in the case and k is the number of triangles in the solution. Thus the maxumum score is equal to the number of points in the case and can be achieved only by solutions with a single triangle which is rarely possible. It means that the maximum score (400 points) for the whole contest cannot be achieved but there is always a chance that a new improvement for the algorithm can be applied.
If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved.
Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken to submit the last solution resulting in a higher score
