Last time I checked, Arrays.sort() does work on strings.
String[] stringArray1 = {"bananas","apples","pears"}; Arrays.sort(stringArray1); System.out.printf("%s\n%s\n%s", stringArray1[0],stringArray1[1],stringArray1[2] );
output
apples bananas pears
