I've programmed in a variety of languages. C++ (particularly more recent versions) is quite powerful... but it is often an unweildy hammer for what should be quick jobs. Likewise, Python isn't perfect - the GIL is still a necessary tradeoff - but it has a wide variety of use cases and it's more concise as well.
(If you actually meant "C" in particular, that's another story.)
