thx for your solution post but I do not believe you are getting all of he substrings of the passed in value.
eg, if the passed in value is (a,b,c,d)
then you are looking at substrings:
abcd
bcd
cd
d
according to your nested for loops.
What happened to substring ab? or abc, or a?
