Welcome to round 1 of the CSA Africa Coding Contest 2023! Compete against developers from within Africa to solve a series of coding questions in Python and win amazing prizes.

CSA Africa is an educational initiative empowering young Africans in STEM, whose talents and prospects are constrained by their backgrounds, to be the next generation of computer programming leaders. Founded in 2018 by Dr. Sofiat Olaosebikan, and formerly known as the Programming Workshop for Scientists in Africa (PWSAfrica), CSA Africa has delivered computer programming workshops in Nigeria, Rwanda, and online. This initiative provides young Africans in STEM with access to quality computer science education, as well as a role-model in our founder who inspires and motivates them. Who is eligible to participate?

The contest is open to passionate and driven young Africans who are seeking to test out their programming skills using the python programming language and have signed up for the contest via https://forms.gle/XoiMqmYpGTHPJSuT6.

Challenge Format

CSA Africa Coding Contest 2023! is an online multi-round contest powered by the HackerRank coding platform. This round of the contest is from 9:00 AM Monday 03 April, 2023 to 9:00 PM Friday 07 April, 2023. All times are in WAT. In each round, participants will face a series of coding challenges, divided into two categories: basic and intermediate. Participants are free to choose the level of difficulty they wish to tackle, but the intermediate category will have more points than the basic category.

To progress to the next round, participants must earn a minimum of 60 points by solving either the basic challenges or the intermediate challenges (mixing and matching challenge category is not allowed). Participants can join the challenge on any one of the five days, as long as they obtain the minimum score before the contest closes.

Interested candidates must register to participate in this challenge by filling the registration form https://forms.gle/XoiMqmYpGTHPJSuT6. Shortlisted candidates will be notified through email and will receive an invite to participate in the challenge along with links for upcoming events.
