Rules

  • The creator of this contest is solely responsible for setting and communicating the eligibility requirements associated with prizes awarded to participants, as well as for procurement and distribution of all prizes. The contest creator holds HackerRank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, awards, settlements, orders, or fines.
  • Code directly from our platform, which supports over 30 languages. Learn more here.
  • To be eligible for prizes, you must be a current U.S. resident.
  • This is an individual participation competition that will appeal to coders who are interested in complex algorithmic challenges & data structures.
  • Prizes will only be rewarded to those participants who consent to share their information.
  • All challenges have a predetermined score.
  • The prize choice for the 5 top ranked coders in the coding challenge are iPad Pro, Oculus Rift, Apple Watch Series 2, PayPal Wireless Headphones
  • The first 10 people who complete the challenge with relevant code will receive a PayPal t-shirt.
  • If there is a tie between 2 people, the individual who completed the challenge first is the winner.
  • Code directly from our platform which supports over 30 lanugages.
  • Any case of code plagiarism will result in disqualification of users from the contest.
  • HackerRank Admin decisions will be final.
  • PayPal past or current employees and prior interns are ineligible to win prizes.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • A participant’s score depends on the number of test cases a participant’s code submission successfully passes.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved. In a game challenge, the participant's score will reflect the last code submission.
  • Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken to submit the last solution resulting in a higher score
