About

ACM-ICPC, the Association of Computer Machinery International Collegiate Programming Competition, Regional contest i.e. ACM-ICPC Lahore Regional 2018, is going to be held at UMT, Lahore. The Computer Science Department of UMT Lahore is organizing this event. ACM-ICPC is the world's oldest, largest and most prestigious international competition for Computer Science students. It is a team-based, programming competition that evaluates problem-solving, programming and teamwork skills amongst university students around the globe. The contest involves a network of universities hosting Regional. Participation in Regional has grown to thousands of the finest students in computing disciplines. Last year 320,000 contestants from 3,089 universities in 111 countries competed in regional competitions at over 481 sites worldwide. The winner team from each Regional contest advances to compete in the ACM-ICPC World Finals annually. This year's World Finals will be held in April, 2019 in Porto Portugal.

Rules

  • The creator of this contest is solely responsible for setting and communicating the eligibility requirements associated with prizes awarded to participants, as well as for procurement and distribution of all prizes. The contest creator holds HackerRank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, awards, settlements, orders, or fines.

  • The contest will be conducted over the Internet. It is a team event. A team consists of 3 contestants.
  • Only those teams whose registration formalities are cleared, will be eligible to participate in the contest.
  • You have to sign up using email id through any of the contestant of your team who is registered on the ICPC Baylor website. Login can be done even before the start time of the contest. We recommend all the teams to login well before the start time of the contest.
  • Only one login per team will be allowed. Please make sure your team login from one computer only.
  • Please do not post strategy, suggestions or tips in the comments during a live contest. Posting questions, clarifying the problem statement is ok.
  • You can also send your queries in an email to info.icpc@umt.edu.pk, during the contest.
  • Compiler versions are mentioned here. You are requested to use the same environment for the contest. Hosting institution cannot take the responsibility in case your program doesn’t work in the platform.
  • Judge's decision will be treated as final. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
  • Regional Site will not be responsible for any internet failure during the online contest at the contestant's site.
  • Each participating team must submit solutions within 3 hours from the contest start time.
  • Any type of plagiarism activities found during the contest may lead to disqualification of the team from the other three ACM-ICPC sites. Posting the source code online without the intention of sharing the code is also considered as cheating.
  • Rank list is published only after removing the name of teams who are found cheated. Please note that the team who tries to compile the source code in any online compilers and if the same is copied by any other team, both the teams will be disqualified. In the case of disqualified teams, appeal shall be submitted by the coach alone. Requests by the contestants will not be entertained.
  • Only those team will be eligible to take part in the on-site ICPC Asia Lahore Regional final, who will clear the preliminary online round.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • A participant’s score depends on the number of test cases a participant’s code submission successfully passes.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved. In a game challenge, the participant's score will reflect the last code submission.
  • Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken to submit the last solution resulting in a higher score
