The Event


Mathmania is an online mathematical event which gives you a great opportunity to try your hands on some exciting mathematics ranging from probability, geometry, primes to an even broader spectrum of aptitude, reasoning, deductions, number crunching and much more.
Mathematics, here is only a means and not an end. A sound knowledge of coding is also required. So put on your thinking caps and gear up, it's time to unleash the mathematician in you.

About Codefest

Codefest is the annual coding festival of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT (BHU) Varanasi, which is held online and is open to participation by all!

Rules

  • The creator of this contest is solely responsible for setting and communicating the eligibility requirements associated with prizes awarded to participants, as well as for procurement and distribution of all prizes. The contest creator holds HackerRank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, awards, settlements, orders, or fines.
  • Code directly from our platform, which supports over 30 languages. Learn more here.
  • The contest will be of 3 hours duration with 10 problems of varying difficulty.
  • Each problem will have 2-3 cases, a small case and large cases. Most of the time you will need to code in order to simulate the results. Some results can be worked out on paper as well.
  • You can make any number of submissions for the problem. Only the best will count.
  • It is an individual event.
  • There is no need to submit the code for each problem. Only the answer needs to be submitted in the required format, and it will be matched against the correct answer.
  • Some questions may have more than one small case.
  • There will be a separate marking scheme for each of the small cases as well as the large case and the scheme will vary with each problem as well.
  • The contest is open to students and professionals alike. Both shall be eligible for prizes.
  • In order to be eligible for prizes, you need to register yourself at our website and make sure you provide your Hackerrank handle in the update profile section.
  • Decision of the judges shall be final and binding.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • A participant’s score depends on the number of test cases a participant’s code submission successfully passes.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved. In a game challenge, the participant's score will reflect the last code submission.
  • Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken to submit the last solution resulting in a higher score
