Rules

  • The creator of this contest is solely responsible for setting and communicating the eligibility requirements associated with prizes awarded to participants, as well as for procurement and distribution of all prizes. The contest creator holds HackerRank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, awards, settlements, orders, or fines.

General Rules

  1. Eligibility: This contest is open to high school and university students across Nepal.

  2. Platform: The competition will take place on HackerRank. Participants are required to have a valid HackerRank account to participate.

  3. Time Limit: The contest will run for 2 hours. No additional time will be provided once the contest timer expires.

  4. Problem Solving: Participants will be given a set of problems of varying difficulty. Solutions should be submitted within the contest duration.

  5. Scoring: Points will be awarded based on the number of correct solutions and the time taken to submit those solutions. Each incorrect submission may incur a time penalty, which will impact the final ranking. There is no negative marking for the incorrect submissions.

  6. Penalties: A time penalty of 15 seconds will be applied for each incorrect submission. Compilation errors will not incur a penalty.

  7. Leaderboard: The leaderboard will be visible during the contest, but it may be frozen 15 minutes before the end to maintain suspense.

  8. Fair Play: Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or use of unauthorized resources will result in immediate disqualification. Participants are expected to compete honestly and uphold the spirit of fair competition.

  9. Queries: Participants can ask questions related to the problems via the Restricted Forum option on HackerRank. Only moderators will be allowed to respond.

  10. Technical Issues: The organizers are not responsible for any technical issues on the participants' side, including internet connectivity or device malfunctions.

  11. Final Decision: In case of disputes or issues, the organizers’ decisions will be final and binding.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • A participant’s score depends on the number of test cases a participant’s code submission successfully passes.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved. In a game challenge, the participant's score will reflect the last code submission.
  • Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken to submit correct submissions to all the problems
