October 2025 Release

Create invite templates at the test level to tailor each template to the specific context of a test.

The new reporting experience now applies to all tests, offering an updated interface with clear performance summaries, integrity insights, and a new benchmark percentile that compares candidate scores to peers who attempted the same question.

Code Repository questions can now be used in Tests, letting candidates build features, fix bugs, and review code in real multi-file environments across popular stacks like Spring Boot (Java), Angular 16, MongoDB, Flask (Python), React.js, Node.js, and Django (Python).

The test onboarding experience shows whether AI assistance is active for a given test and explains its capabilities and boundaries. Candidates can then practice in a sample test that mirrors the AI-enabled experience of the real assessment.

Code reviews are now automatically scored against expert examples, evaluating how well candidates identify issues, explain their reasoning, and provide constructive feedback. As AI takes on more of the coding, reviewing AI-generated code is becoming a critical skill, and this update makes it possible to assess that skill reliably and at scale.

Scorecard Assist now supports whiteboard questions, auto-generating structured summaries by synthesizing transcripts, code, results, and the evaluation rubric.

The AI Assistant can be enabled for React, Angular, and other project-based questions directly from the scratchpad. The IDE runs on the latest models, including Sonnet 4.5, GPT-5 mini, GPT-5, and Qwen 3 Coder 480B, with Auto Mode selecting the best model for speed and reliability. Response times are now twice as fast for autocompletions and Agent Mode edits, helping candidates stay in the flow.

The video interface in interviews now adapts to different layouts. Layouts adjust automatically to fit the number of participants, and full-screen mode offers three views: film strip, vertical film strip, and gallery.

Candidates and interviewers now have separate login paths, with upfront compatibility checks to flag setup issues early. Hiring teams can also customize the onboarding guidelines displayed to candidates, adding company-specific instructions for a smoother onboarding process.

Custom scratchpad questions can be created and saved directly during a live interview across both coding and whiteboard formats. These questions can be stored in personal or team libraries, keeping content organized and ready to reuse.

Integrity setup is now simpler. At the start of a test, choose between Secure Mode, Proctor Mode, or the HackerRank App, then add options like Image Proctoring, Plagiarism Detection, or Photo ID as needed. Copy-paste tracking and tab-switch detection are enabled by default.

The HackerRank Desktop App adds a new layer of security for high-stakes assessments. It creates a secure testing environment by blocking unauthorized applications and continuously monitoring candidate activity. It delivers enterprise-grade integrity while preserving a smooth candidate experience.

Secure Mode enforces the use of a single monitor at all times to prevent suspicious activity. Tests will not start if multiple monitors are detected and will pause if an additional monitor is connected during the session.

The new candidate site now supports more question types, including Code Repo, File Upload, Subjective, DevOps, and Cloud. Candidates also benefit from timer nudges that prompt them to submit before time runs out, resizable input fields for free-form answers, and expandable images for a clearer view, making the overall experience smoother and more intuitive.

Project-based questions now run on VS Code v1.103.2 with debugger support built into question setup and a simplified folder structure for seamless use. Candidates get faster navigation with middle-click scrolling and a smarter terminal with IntelliSense for full command chains, making complex workflows quicker and more reliable.

Scorecard updates now flow directly into Workday, Lever, and Greenhouse as soon as feedback is submitted, keeping data consistent and helping teams move faster.

HackerRank is now integrated with Northstarz.ai, an AI-powered talent intelligence platform that helps teams identify top candidates through resume analysis and video interviews. The integration includes a dedicated Northstarz.ai card in the integrations page with partner branding, setup instructions, and configuration options for easy onboarding.

Interview sessions can now be scheduled, run, and evaluated directly in Lever. Interview statuses, feedback, and scorecards are synced automatically through the integration, and updates made in Lever are instantly reflected in HackerRank.

The new integration with Kula.ai connects HackerRank with an AI-native Applicant Tracking System that unifies sourcing, pipeline management, interviewing, and analytics. A dedicated Kula.ai card is available in the integrations page with partner branding, setup details, and configuration options for a smooth and consistent experience.

The new AI Engineer Certification is a guided pathway with lessons and challenges that help developers build expertise in creating AI-powered applications and showcase their skills as next-generation developers.

APIs now let you extract skill signals, badges, and certification details programmatically. This makes it easier to build custom reports and integrate with HR systems.

Admins can now earn badges and certifications while continuing to manage the product, helping them stay closely aligned with the skills and workflows their teams use every day. The learner view is now the default, making it easy to explore content, code, and demo features firsthand.

Admins now have new options to deactivate users, providing greater control over account management and ensuring teams stay current and secure.

Mock Interviews now offer a more realistic practice experience with real-time alerts, guided growth paths, and fresh content across coding, system design, React, and Node.js. Sessions run smoother with compatibility checks, a modern coding editor, and faster, more reliable feedback.

The Software Engineer Prep Kit helps candidates get interview-ready with curated challenges, timed mock tests, AI-powered mock interviews, and role-specific certification. Practice with real-world coding problems, track progress with personalized reports, and earn a verifiable certificate to showcase your skills.
